Having a goal puts you on a path. As you move closer to that goal, you move with enthusiasm and focus to obtain the prize once the goal has been met. If you want to be successful, it is important to make goals to reach a level of desired success. Similarly, it is important for the patient to think about what they want to get out of their relationship with their dental professional. If you do not have any goals, you may learn too late that a particular dentist is a bad match for you. Not all dentists have the same range of experience or expertise.
DEFINING YOUR DENTAL GOALS
Maybe you are looking for a new dentist. Form some questions before you schedule your appointment. Often, the office staff can help answer your questions to determine if that dental group is right for you even before you meet the dentist.
You might want to ask them how long they have been in practice. Most often, an experienced dentist will be more connected to other regional professionals they could refer you to if you need it. In addition, an experienced dentist may have a broader range of dental knowledge. You could also ask patients if this dentist has gained their trust if that is one of your dental goals.
You may also want to ask if your dentist accepts your insurance or offers financing options. Can you pay upfront and receive a discount? You will also want to know if they send appointment reminders or summaries of dental procedures or treatments you received while in their office.
